3 Day’s Safari to Murchison Falls

Best African Safari Destination Series:

This is definitely on the top list of my safari destinations in Uganda. One thing everyone needs to know when going on a safari is to choose the right destination for your tour rather than leave it to your tour operator to plan out your itinerary.  The Murchison falls is a great place to go to on safari for some great adventures.

I recommend a 3-day safari trip when thinking about visiting the Murchison falls in order to get the most of it.  This is because you might want to stop over at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to see some of the few remaining white Rhinos in the world which is about 7 KM off the main road to the Murchison falls after which you will head over to have lunch at Masindi town and continue to the park to check in at any of the Georgios Safari lodges at the national game reserve

Day 2:  An Early Morning Game Drive is the best way to appreciate the rich diversity of Wildlife at the Murchison falls. This park is home to different wildlife species including 451 bird species and over 76 types of mammal.  Second day starts with breakfast and we and set off for an early game drive at exactly 7:00am to have thrill with a breath taking Sunrise over the savannah plains and wildlife species such as warthogs, leopards, giraffes, hyenas,  as you drive around the park in search of an up-close view of the Lion kings in there pride.   By 11:30am in the mid morning we then head back to the gorgeous Safari lodge for a Nice freshen and enjoy amazing lunch Buffet as you prepare for the impressive afternoon launch boat cruise on the Nile River.

“The most beautiful thing in the world is, of course, the world itself”

On Day 3, its again an early breakfast and another game drive to see more wildlife, and by 11:30am we check out of the Safari lodge and embark on the journey back after an amazing safari with lunch in Masindi town and arrive at Kampala city in the late afternoon

A Game Drive At The Murchison Falls National Park

Game drives are best done along the Northern banks since that’s where you can find a large concentration of wildlife living in its Savannah plains whereas the Southern bank has a smaller number of antelope herds and other wild animals.

Game drives are an all year round activity. There is nothing as thrilling as watching predators such as lions make moves after their prey, it’s an amazing experience since most antelopes are hunted down and killed without noticing. All this is best observed during the dry season where the grass is short so game viewing is at its best. During the rainy season the grass is a bit tall hence give challenge especially during game viewing since some animals might be missed out.

Hiking And Nature Walks Safaris

Most attractions in the park and around the conservation areas can be explored on foot, and although there are different trails that can be followed; tourists are only permitted to follow particular designated trails such as: to the top of the falls, in Rabongo forest and in Kaniyo Pabidi. hiking and nature walk adventures will be a great reward to Nature lovers and birders as they will reward you with great views of wildlife in Murchison falls National Park, birds and different plant life at a close range as they walk through low hills, gullies and riverine forests.

Safari Accommodation At Murchison Falls National Park

Where to stay in Murchison Falls National Park is no worry at all as there are quite many Accommodation facilities within the park ranging from campsites, lodges, hotels, and guesthouse and eco-friendly facilities. The safari lodges come in luxury, mid-range and budget facilities ranging from $50 to $500. Some of these accommodations are built on top of the falls, within the park and others are in the wider Murchison Falls Conservation Area.

Its a thumbs-up from me to the Murchison Falls National Park and I encourage anyone who hasn’t been there yet to think about having a 3 Day Safari Holiday to the Murchison Falls.
